Good luck, in my view, is just the positive occasion of an event occurring in circumstances where the event does not occur regularly. Math explain this as the division between favorable number of cases and total number of cases. Example: if we roll a die and we want the face with the number one, it would be a probability of one over six. People worry about luck because, sometimes, they prefer to blame fate for a problem, instead of accepting guilt. And other times because it is an act of faith professed to karma, God or other beliefs. One proof of my assertion is found in Japanese culture, where they have Seven Gods of Fortune that provide fortune in war, business, arts, and other areas. China and India also have their own lucky deities. I believe that traditions of this kind remains to express what we want to happen to us in the future.
Under my perception, the luck is not more than a belief or superstition, because it is demonstrated and relapses in the act of the faith. I believe that people implement it to feel more confident and sure of themselves or even to propose certain goals in a determined way. Sometimes it is used to have something to cling to, to fight against adversity and sometimes to get rid of the responsibility to certain actions for having "luck on your side". The closest thing to explaining luck is the probability of the events, where we can translate with numbers and in a certain way quantify, with a scale of 0 to 1, how likely can an event happen due to different factors and past occurrences. From a cultural point of view, the belief in luck makes us unique, the methods used to enter it exposes us as a society, reflecting our level of superstition and spirituality.
I don't believe in luck, but I think that there are people who attract positive things and I can not give an explanation to that. The explanation I can give is that maybe they are people who have good intuition or that they think positively and that makes them have a different attitude towards situations.
In my family, in the new year, we do some of the things that are mentioned in the article, but no one in the family has won the lottery and we do not all travel very often. I agree that they are fun traditions and that a new year without those things would be strange, because it's a habit in these day.
I think we should all fight for our own destiny and not wait for things to come to us by luck. We must work hard to achieve our dreams
My opinion about the luck is that some cases are superstition and others are very strange coincidences. For example using the articles as reference I consider that eat 12 grapes in 12 seconds to secure prosperity and good luck is only a superstition, or run around the block with a suitcase, hoping we’ll get to travel in the upcoming year is another superstition, the only thing that secure to travel in the new year is work hard for this objective, but I thing in some cases is good be superstitious and consider that you have good luck, because this motivate you to make some thing and achieve your objectives. The other situation that I consider good luck is when a rare and beneficial coincidence happen, for example when you are in a test and you have a question with different answers, you don’t know the correct answer but select 1 randomly and after the exam you check the correct answer and is the same answer that you selected before, for my this is good luck.
Luck depends on the perspective of each person. For some people it may be luck for others it is not. If people have positive attitudes, they will see the circumstances in a positive way. Luck is an instrument that gives people hope to believe that things will work out according to their expectations. People tend to cling to luck to continue with their life purposes For me, good luck is living life, being happy and grateful. My mom believes in all those things of the new year, but for me, each person owns their own destiny and has the ability to make good decisions to face life.
To me, luck is a human invention used most of the times to avoid some hard work and let it on the “hands of destiny”. It is actually something that you can blame when you couldn’t get something. If someone lost a game or didn’t get a job it is easier to hear that it was just “bad luck” instead of admitting that he probably did something wrong. Also, it is often used by lazy people to expect that they will get something without effort, just waiting to have good luck, like we just read in the essay; and ticos are pretty lazy in that way. I’m a skeptical person, things like the 12 grapes in New Year are useless to me and I’ll love to one day hear that people work hard to win their things instead of making weird things to hope to get it.
I guess the luck is when happen something unusual, maybe, it is waited for or not. The is the point, all of people wanna be success without effort, only with strange rituals like in new years eve, those habist aren't bad, because you can get fun wit that, however, the really problem is when someone thinks this is the way to the succesfull, this is the reason for all people give a lot of importance to being lucky, they imagine they will reach all the aims and they wanna do it with lucky, they don't want to do it with effor and faith in their habilities.
We have to be sure about one thing, we can do all our dreams, when we work with hope in they, in my case, God is my mean source of force for do it, but, we don't have sure our future in those purposes, but we have to try it with hope, because one day, we will win, without lucky, but with effort.
I think that in Costa Rica the people is very sperstition and tha has been from our grandpsrents to date, the peple think that these activities will give you luck. But really happening is a coincidences, the fact that you put a flower in your wallet, it does not mean that you are always going to have money or the tradicions when the people run around yous hause and dream the who will go on a trip. But everythig is a tradiction.
I think the lucky it’s a combination of good thinks and very big effort. All people have magical beliefs, in example: we want win the lottery or be eternally happy, or have beautiful vacations and be other person that be happier, but not is true. This kind of means are immaturity thoughts. The happiness is not eternity all the things change in the future. Our present is the only moment we have to build our lucky. This topic is interesting, is a good opportunity to reflect about the lucky. My most important lucky has been having a dream in my live and work for it. Although always we have some events without explications but example the miracles or when the people win the lottery. This kind or events are incidental
